Q:WHY IS THE SPRINT ONLY 15 KM ON THE BIKE
A: The reason is for safety. This is to prevent cross over on the bike course.
Q: Is there Full Road Closure
A: There is no total road closure, however there will be traffic officers at the two main turn points and marshals along the route controlling traffic. Most of the route is along quiet roads and there is only a section on the main road between Rawsonville and Worcester.
Q: Will it be a wetsuit swim
A: A decision will be made on the day as per the ITU rules. It is expected to be a wetsuit legal swim.
Q: What time does the race start
A: The Maxi will start at 08:00 and the Mini at 08:15. This is subject to change and will be communicated before race registration.
Q: Is there accommodation close by if I want to avoid the long drive on the morning of the race?
A: There is plenty of accommodation in the Breedekloof region. Please use this link to see some options.
Q: Can I bring family / friends to support my race?
A: Yes.
Q: Will there be water / nutrition along the bike & run routes?
A: There will be no water or nutrition along the bike route. There will be water on the run route and each competitor will be provided GU energy gels in their goody bag.
Q: Am I allowed to swim with a safety buoy?
A: No you are not. (In accordance with ITU Rules)
Q: Is it a non-drafting race?
A: Yes…this is a non-drafting race. TT bikes are allowed (as well as road bikes and mountain bikes)
Q: Where will registration take place?
A: We will communicate this closer to the time. We plan on having a registration in Cape Town on the Wednesday, in Somerset West on the Thursday before the event and at There will be registration for those not able to make it to either of the pre-registrations on the morning before the event until 0700.
Q: Can we enter and / or register on the day of the race?
A: There will be no late entry and we would prefer that you register at one of the earlier registrations.
Q: Do I need a one-day-licence to race Prison Break?
A: If you are not TSA registered you will need to take out a day licence.
Q: Is the Prison Break racecourse Para-friendly (Physically Challenged Athletes, Hand-Cycle Athletes)?
A: Yes
Q: What if I can no longer race due to injury or illness? Do I get a refund or a transfer to another event?
A: We will allow a transfer to next year's event as long as this is done in writing (via email) 2 weeks before the event.
Q: Can I upgrade or downgrade the distance I originally registered for?
A: Yes as long as it is before Friday 13th October 2023 (the day before the event).
