HARBOUR2HARBOUR 2024 SWIM ROUTES

1.6KM SWIM ROUTES

Plan A 1.6km

Race briefing will be held at 8h45 at the Gordon’s Bay Harbour Slipway. The swim is a water start, so you will swim out to the start point in front of the NSRI building and be set off at 9h15. Heading out of the harbour turn slightly left to pass the Orca marker buoy on your right shoulder. Note that the harbour mouth has silted up so it might be shallow as you exit the harbour and turn leftOnce you are around this first buoy head in the direction of Harbour Island. Once you reach the last marker buoy you will turn right and head through the boat marker poles (red and green) and head for the harbour mouth. There will be flags flying to make sighting of the harbour entrance easier. Once you reach the harbour mouth you will turn right around the buoy keeping the buoy on your right shoulder heading towards the slipway where your time will be recorded. You will then receive your medal and collect your bag if you handed it in. Your race number and tag number need to correspond before your bag is handed over to you.

Plan B 1.6km

For the 1.6 km route, you will begin from the Slipway and follow the yellow line to Buoy 1, turn right to marker Buoy 2, make a right turn, then swim to the next buoy, then make a left turn. You will swim in an anti-clockwise direction around the two major islands marked in Green and complete this loop twice (2 loops). After your second loop you will swim to Buoy 2 passing on your left shoulder and then swim to Buoy 1 making a left shoulder turn and head back to the slipway to the finish.
